
EMAInd unites all Indian students and alumni of Erasmus Mundus
Objective:
The main objective of EMAInd is to promote the European Union as a centre of excellence in the field of higher education among Indians. EMAInd aims to work in tandem with Erasmus Mundus Association to enhance the visibility and attractiveness of European higher education in India.
Our goals:
- to spread awareness about the Erasmus Mundus Master Courses and Joint Doctorates in India
- to establish a network of professionals and universities throughout India
Our activities:
- Information events on Erasmus Mundus at various Indian universities
- Workshops on higher education, as well as seminars on inclusive education
- Charity actions and community service for people with disabilities.
- Participation at the events of the European Commission and the EU Delegation in India aimed at discussion of the EU-India cooperation, in particular EU-India policy on education and student mobility.
- ‘Powerless’ – a documentary film project about energy poverty in India
Chapter Board

President
Sulabha Karunanidhi from Mumbai, India graduated from the Erasmus Mundus Master Course “Special Educational Needs" in 2007. She studied in London, Holland and Czech Republic during her Erasmus Mundus Study programme. She also received a Diploma in Child Care and Education from the University of Hertfordshire, London (1993- 1994). Currently she is working in an organisation for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She has dedicated her life to the development and care of individuals with special needs. She has been involved in the field of special education for the past 30 years.

Vice-president
Pavan K Sriram was born in Bangalore, located on the Deccan Plateau in the south-eastern part of Karnataka, India. He undertook the Erasmus Mundus masters in Computational Mechanics from 2008 to 2010. Pavan has been an active member of EMA since 2008, currently holding the position of Vice President of the Indian Chapter (EMAInd) and Coordinator for REALISE IT. He was previously a Course Representative (2009-2010 and 2010-2011), Working group leader of Promotion team EMAInd (2009-2010 and 2010-2011). Pavan now lives in UK, where he works at an Aerospace company while pursuing further academic studies at University of Wolverhampton. He is a regional winner in the British Council’s International Student Awards 2011.

Secretary
Dr. Vina Vaswani graduated from the Erasmus Mundus Masters in Bioethics having studied in Belgium, Netherlands and Italy. Upon returning to India, she has contributed to opening a Centre for Ethics at Yenepoya University where she works as a director. The Centre plans to start a Clinical Ethics Consultation, the first structured consultation of its kind in India. She is also a professor and is head of the department of forensic medicine and toxiology.
