Emerging Scholar’s Symposium on Climate Change, Adaptation and Green Economy at COP 17 Conference
The proposed symposium titled “Transdisciplinary Studies on Climate Change and the Green Economy in Africa” would be held during the period of built up to COP 17 from the 27th November to 9th December, 2011.
The event provides an opportunity for debating and assessing Africa’s development, especially on the transition to renewable energy sources and the associated barriers to climate change. The symposium will bring together young and emerging scholars and provides a platform to share their ideas and perspectives on climate change in Africa.
Parallel to the symposium, three books will be launched. These are:
a) Energy Transition in Africa,
b) Barriers to Climate Change Adaptation Implementation in the SADC region, and
c) Green Economy-Topics Of Relevance to Africa.
The symposium will include a Europe Study Fair in South Africa. This will be promoting further education in Europe and Africa. It shall be preceded by the Erasmus Mundus Africa Chapter whose vision is to create a stronger and larger network of Erasmus Mundus scholars and alumni of whom, with their knowledge, skills, experience and passion can positively transform the African continent in their fields of endeavor.
