Erasmus Mundus TPTI: (Technical, Heritage, Territories of the Industry): international workshop and Degree Ceremony

by Marina Martin, alumna of TPTi and president of the EMA Latin American Chapter

It was last July 6th, at the Salle 1 of the Centre Panthéon in the University Paris 1, where I had the opportunity to assist the 4th Workshop International “Patrimoines de l’ingénierie” event organized by the Consortium of the Master TPTI: (Technical, Heritage, Territories of the Industry)

This annual workshop took place on the same day of the Degree Ceremony of the Master TPTI, therefore the presentations included some of the Master’s students, along with notable researchers from several European universities, such as Università IUAV di Venezia, Insituto Universitario de Lisboa, EHESS, Université Bordeaux III, Université Paris IV, Universidad de Valencia and Universidad de Sevilla.

Five overall themes were addressed at the event, concerning the framework of the heritage ports, railroad heritage, technical education in specialized schools of Arts and Crafts in France and Mexico, the engineers’ history education in France and Italy and seismic safety of architectural heritage. In addition to these, Professor Juan Sobrino from Universidad de Sevilla made an interesting presentation regarding a critical review of the management strategies of current industrial heritage was presented by.

Following the Workshop the TPTI students received their diplomas, after these two fantastic years of excellent cultural and academic education, spent at the Université Paris 1 – Panthéon-Sorbonne (France), Universidade de Evora (Portugal) and the Università degli Studi di Padova (Italy). It should also be noted that the funds for the Master TPTI were just renewed by the European Commission, so I strongly recommend motivated people interested in working in the field of management of Cultural and Industrial Heritage to apply.
