EMA supports the alumni of the Climate KIC (Knowledge and Innovation Community) of the EIT in setting up the alumni association.
At the invitation of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), former presidents of EMA Hanneke Luth and Chunyu Liang, as well as current Coordinator of EMA Regional Chapters Ricardo Chavez took part in the alumni set up event in Wageningen, the Netherlands on 14-15.01.2012.
Climate-KIC was launched in December 2009 as an EIT initiative, created to encourage innovation in the area of climate change adaptation and mitigation. Its emphasis lies on establishing an integrated European network of global and regional partners from the private, public and academic worlds.
At this first official KIC weekend a range of valuable workshops and discussions were presented, giving students and alumni the opportunity to voice their opinion and visions for this new association. Besides having shared their expreience, EMA members clearly saw a lot of potential for synergies between EMA and Climate KIC, particularly for the business and entrepreneurial oriented courses, as well as the environment, energy and climate change related courses. EMA would like to cooperate with the Climate KIC alumni especially in the area of professional networking, communication and joint innovative projects.
