Communication and Dialogue on Energy and Sustainable Development

Call for applications is now open for the second Erasmus Mundus Thematic Conference organized together with N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie, University of Groningen and DG for Culture and Education of the European Commission

The event takes place on November 17-19, 2009 in Groningen, the Netherlands parallel with the high-level interdisciplinary Energy Delta Convention.
The aim of the conference is to create a dialogue and to ensure communication on the acute issues of energy in the framework of sustainable development from various perspectives:
-international relations and  politics,
-research and culture,
-business and innovations,
-communication and scientific approaches to sustainable development.

This second Erasmus Mundus Thematic  Conference received external funding from N. V. Nederlandse Gasunie, the biggest gas infrastructure company in the Netherlands, and one of Europe’s largest players on gas and energy market. This is the first time an EMA even is being co-sponsored by a private business company and will hopefully lead to the continuation of such cooperation.

Due to its prominent position not only within the region, but also globally, Gasunie is becoming more and more internationally oriented. In the current energy market, with its dynamic development, it is crucial to be involved in the newest developments and open for innovative ideas. This is one of the reasons why Gasunie considers the support of youth initiatives to be one of its priorities in the sphere of public relations. This opens space for communication and dialogue, increases the flow of information and ideas and establishes long lasting relationships across the countries and disciplines.

Conference participants are able to attend the presentations of renown international keynote speakers and attend the networking lunches of the Energy Delta Convention, as well as the Energy Career Fair.  Moreover, the participants are given an opportunity to present their own research, projects or personal views on the problematic discussed in parallel workshops.

Interested prospective applicants are recommended to take a look at the Preliminary Conference Programme and submit the Application Form to application AT em-eu until September 27, 2009 (23:00 CET).
