Inaugural Seminar of the Erasmus+ CBHE Harmony Project Lab at DIU took place on October 30, 2022. Internationalisation and Virtual Exchange: Borderless between EU and Asian Countries, is the 3 years long Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) Harmony project.
The project includes 11 universities from Asian and European countries including Bangladesh, Bulgaria, India, Lithuania, Spain, Slovenia, and Vietnam as partners of the HARMONY project consortium to foster mutual cooperation. The Harmony venture aims to boost the modernization, accessibility, and internationalization of HEIs in India, Bangladesh, and Vietnam upon exchanging ideas with EU project partner institutions.
As a part of this project implementation, Daffodil International University - DIU (Bangladesh) set up a project lab entitled ‘ERASMUS LAB’ along with ‘Friends Teahouse’ to initiate capacity-building training and sessions related to internationalization, quality education, learning environments, digital competency, cultural synergy, etc. The project in Bangladesh aligns with the National Sustainable Development Strategy's (NSDS) priority area "Quality and Education," which focuses to improve education quality across all educational systems, ensure equity and equality at all educational levels, promote national culture and heritage in the classroom, emphasize science and technology education, and encourage research, development, extension, and utilization of science and technology. H. E. Mr. Charles Whiteley, Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union in Bangladesh inaugurated the Lab as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, BoT, Daffodil International University was present as the Guest of Honour. EMA President (ad interim) Dr. Md. Ashiqur Rahman attended virtually as a Special Guest. Prof. Dr. S M Mahabub Ul Haque Mazumder, Pro Vice Chancellor, presided over the program. The inaugural ceremony was also virtually addressed by Dr. Rafael de Miguel González, Harmony Project Grant Coordinator and Associate Dean for International Relations, Faculty of Education, University of Zaragoza, Spain. Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Director, International Affairs, and Mr. Syed Raihan-Ul-Islam, Sr. Asst. Director, International Affairs, DIU briefed the overall Erasmus Lab and Friends Teahouse goal and outcome among the 200+ attendees of the program.
