As part of the orientation week for the new cohort of Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) students in Latvia, a special welcoming session was organized to introduce them to the Erasmus Mundus Students & Alumni Association (EMA AISBL) community. The event took place at the university’s facilities in Kuldīga, Latvia, with the generous support of the SDSI EMJM study program, which provided access to the space and technical equipment.

The session was led by Linda Paulauska, Country Representative of Latvia, who joined on-site, and Carolina Vaz-Pires, Program Representative of SDSI, who joined online. Together, they guided students through an engaging and informative 30-minute presentation, introducing participants to EMA’s mission and goals as an international community that connects current and former Erasmus Mundus students and alumni from around the world.

During the session, students learned about EMA’s core goals:

  • Developing a large network of EM students and alumni by providing relevant and useful benefits to members.

  • Facilitating connections and opportunities for collaboration within the greater Erasmus Mundus community.

  • Fostering professional development and career advancement through various EMA activities.

  • Strengthening EMA’s position as a global authority on higher education in Europe.

The presentation sparked great interest among the attendees, leading to an engaging question-and-answer session that extended beyond the initial schedule. Thirty-five students attended the seminar, showing enthusiasm to join EMA and to contribute to its vibrant global network.

This event served as a wonderful opportunity to welcome new EMJM students, strengthen the Erasmus Mundus community in Latvia, and promote active engagement with EMA’s vision of global collaboration, academic excellence, and lifelong connection.
