What is EMA Star?

The “EMA Star” initiative was initiated in2012, with the objective to recognise the valuable commitment of EMA volunteers. Being a volunteer run NGO, in the Higher Education sector, our active members and volunteers provide their precious time, while balancing either their studies or work, to help EMA move forward as a progressive organisation supporting mobility and the Erasmus+/Erasmus Mundus mindset. Some of our volunteers have now been involved for more than a few years, others have been there since EMA was formed, and few since the first EMJMD began. All of us, share the same EMA spirit and energy.

EMA values and recognises members who excel and go beyond in their support to EMA, through a range of awards. During the major restructuring of EMA in 2017-2019, in addition to EMA Star, some special awards were also created, such as the Presidential Seal of Excellence, EMA Social Impact Award, EMA Alumi Award and EMA Programme Ambassador Award.

Once a year the Erasmus Mundus Association choses its Stars, while awards have been paused during the pandemic, this does in no way mean that less outstanding work was done.

EMA Stars are EMA members who give their best and a little bit more in everything they do. Their energy, passion and enthusiasm represent the EMA spirit and become the source of our organisation’s numerous activities worldwide.
