Representatives from the Erasmus Mundus Students and Alumni Association (EMA), visited the Brussels Office of the Baha’i International Community (BIC) to learn more about the office's work in Europe, exchange information and explore potential areas for collaboration.

The BIC represents the worldwide Baha'i community, whose members come from every national, ethnic, religious, cultural, and socio-economic background. We engaged in a meaningful dialogue with BIC Brussels which operates at the European level, engaging with institutions such as the European Union, the Council of Europe, and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. Our discussions with Policy Officer Sophia Massrouri centred on the critical role of youth in shaping Europe's evolving landscape and ensuring inclusive participation in decision-making processes.

As Europe navigates an "age of transition," the conversation touched on pressing issues, including youth empowerment in civic spaces, the intersection of migration and social development, and the role of religion and values-based leadership in fostering peace and security. EMA and BIC Brussels acknowledged the need for continuous collaboration to enhance youth representation in various forums and amplify their contributions to societal transformation.

"The future of Europe is intrinsically linked to the meaningful inclusion of young people in decision-making and policy discussions. Our meeting with BIC Brussels provided a platform to exchange ideas and identify potential synergies for future cooperation," said Marvi Qazi, EMA’s Director of the Project Support Unit.

As an international student and alumni network, EMA remains committed to fostering opportunities for youth engagement in diverse spaces. The visit marks the beginning of a potential partnership with BIC Brussels to facilitate cross-sectoral dialogues and knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at equipping young people with the tools and platforms to drive positive change.

This engagement initiative was led by EMA’s Partnership Development Unit (PDU). For further enquiries, please contact Collins at partnership@em-a.eu.
