On 20 September 2025, the SEFOTECH.NUT alumni community came together to organize an engaging and insightful online career session for current students of the Erasmus Mundus Master’s Programme in European Master of Science in Food Science, Technology, and Nutrition (SEFOTECH.NUT). The event, hosted by Erasmus Mundus Students & Alumni Association (EMA AISBL) Programme Representative (PR) Mei Kanatani in collaboration with other alumni colleagues, welcomed around 55 enthusiastic participants from across the globe.

The three-hour interactive session aimed to provide students with practical insights into post-graduation opportunities, professional development, and the diverse career trajectories that alumni have pursued since completing the program.

Objectives of the Event

  • To share experiences from alumni who have successfully advanced into exciting professional roles.

  • To provide a platform for engagement and knowledge exchange between alumni and current students.

  • To build professional networks and foster a sense of community within the SEFOTECH.NUT family.

  • To offer insights into various sectors, countries, and career pathways open to graduates.

Agenda Highlights

The session followed a well-structured agenda that encouraged open dialogue and exchange of ideas:

  • Introduction and Meet the Speakers

  • Career Trajectories After Graduation

  • Skills Acquisition and Required Competencies

  • Lessons Learned and Advice for Current Students

  • Interactive Q&A Session

Inspiring Stories and Meaningful Connections

Five SEFOTECH.NUT alumni shared their professional journeys, reflecting on their transitions from academia to industry, research, and other professional domains. They discussed the skills that helped them succeed, the challenges they faced, and the strategies they used to navigate diverse career paths across different countries and sectors.

The session was marked by lively participation and thoughtful questions from current students, who expressed great appreciation for the opportunity to engage directly with alumni. Many participants shared positive feedback, highlighting how the session helped them gain clarity about future career options and motivation to pursue their goals.

Building Bridges Between Students and Alumni

“The event was a great success, and several students mentioned how valuable it was to hear directly from SEFOTECH.NUT alumni,” said Mei Kanatani, EMA Programme Representative for SEFOTECH.NUT. “We are proud to contribute to strengthening the connection between students and alumni, and to continue supporting the Erasmus Mundus Association’s mission of fostering professional growth and collaboration.”

Looking Ahead

This initiative reflects the strong spirit of mentorship and community within the Erasmus Mundus network. EMA and SEFOTECH.NUT alumni remain committed to supporting students in their academic and professional journeys, and to promoting the continued success of the Erasmus Mundus Programmes worldwide.
