Management Board 2019-2021

The Management Board (MB) is responsible for the daily management, administration, and representation of EMA.

 

In 2019 EMA members voted on updating the initial structure of the Association. Three types of units were formed: Working Units, Administrative Units, & Support Units. Visit EMA's Structure & History page to learn more. Each of these are led by a Unit Director and contribute to the well-functioning of EMA. Apart from the 10 Unit Directors the President and Vice-President make up the EMA MB.

Katharina F. Heil

President

Dr. Katharina F Heil is the current EMA President

 

Katharina has completed an Erasmus Mundus PhD, graduating in 2017 from University of Edinburgh, UK and KTH, Stockholm, Sweden. During the programme she also completed a research visit to the National Centre for Biological Sciences in Bangalore, India. Prior to her PhD, Katharina obtained a MSc in Bioinformatics (Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, Spain, 2013), MSc in Biomedicine (Universitat de Barcelona, Spain, 2012) and BSc in Biomedicine (Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, Germany, 2011).

 

Katharina currently works as a Project Manager for H2020 projects (euCanSHare, EarlyCause, longITools), based at Universitat de Barcelona, Spain. 

As EMA's president Katharina  aims, together with the rest of the Management Board, to make EMA (self-) sustainable, establish best practices and clear processes, further connect EMA members around the world and somove the EMA community forward and closer together. 

 

Katharina is passionate about sports and connecting people from different backgrounds enjoying to cook internationally and sharing food and board game evenings with friends.

Marsela Husen

Vice President

Marsela Husen is the current EMA Vice-President.

 

Marsela has completed her EMJMD in Research and Innovation in Higher Education in 2016. Her mobility track included Austria, Finland, China, and Germany. She completed her B.Ed. studies in Educational Counseling and Psychology at Indonesian Catholic University of Atma Jaya Jakarta, Indonesia. She has been an activeEMA member since 2015, as a qualitative data analyst for EMAs Course Quality Advisory Board (CQAB), MaRIHE Programme Representative, and Country Representative for Indonesia. 

 

Marsela is a start-up enthusiast. She is currently working as Chief of Staff at an E-commerce company in Indonesia. Prior to that, she co-founded two companies: an employment agency and an event management company. Her background includes 10 years of professional experience at various managerial positions and Human Resources areas, as well as counseling, coaching, teaching, and project management. 

 

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, traveling, and photography.

Gabriella Mikiewicz

Student and Alumni Relationships Unit Director

Gabriella is the current director of EMA's Students & Alumni Unit.

 

Gabriella Mikiewicz is a specialist in intercultural and research communications in migration contexts. She graduated from her Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters programme, Migration and Intercultural Relations (EMMIR) in 2019.

 

Gabriella is currently based in Vilnius, Lithuania where she is working as a freelancer on several strategic communications and research projects. She has been a member and volunteer of EMA since 2018, and has worked in the Communications and Talent Management Units. As the Director of Student and Alumni Relations, Gabriella has worked on several projects with her team including the EMA Cookbook, EMA mentoring programme, establishing the PRNet, and building closer relationships between EMA and EMJMD programmes. 

In her free time, Gabriella enjoys learning new skills, illustrating, volunteering, and keeping busy!

Radu Serrano

Policy and Quality Assurance Unit Director

Radu is the current director of EMA's Policy and Quality Assurance Unit.

 

Radu graduated in 2019 from the EMJMD in Public Sector Innovation and eGovernance (PIONEER) from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, University of Münster and Tallinn University of Technology. 

 

Originally from Panama, he is currently based in Estonia, working as a Project Manager at the e-Governance Academy and pursuing a PhD in Public Administration, specializing in Technology Governance. In addition to his background in social sciences, Radu is passionate about natural sciences and enjoys connecting with people to discuss these topics and interdisciplinarity, such as, but not limited to, chaos theory.

Marcela Ocampo

Outreach and Capacity Building Unit Director

Marcela is the current director of EMAs Capacity Building and Outreach Unit

 

Marcela completed her Erasmus Mundus Master Degree in Education Technology (EUROMIME) in France, Portugal, and Spain in 2012. She is now based in Mexico City and has more than 15 years of experience in virtual learning, digital events strategy, user experience, digital marketing, and design. She has worked in Mexico, the United States, The Netherlands, Spain, and Italy. Over the last few years, she has focused on the design and development of virtual learning events for entrepreneurs, digital media production, eCourses, and podcasts. 

 

Marcela has volunteered for EMA since 2010 and is part of the EMA Management Board, creating outreach and capacity building strategies. She also founded the International Network of Innovators in Education (INIE) and volunteered for ESAA Communications Working Group.

Pavlo Bazilinskyy

Research and Innovation Unit Director

Pavlo is the current director of EMA's Research & Innovation Unit.

 

Originally from Ukraine, he is now the head of data research at a startup SD-Insights and postdoctoral researcher at TU Delft, the Netherlands. He finished his PhD at TU Delft in automated driving as a Marie Curie Fellow. 

 

Pavlo concluded Erasmus Mundus Double MSc in Dependable Software Systems with double distinction at the University of St Andrews (Scotland) and Maynooth University (Ireland) in 2014. He wrote two dissertations within this degree where he evaluated implications of porting a programming language and the impact of the cache on multi-threaded applications. He completed his BEng studies in Information Technology at Mikkeli University of Technology (Finland) in 2012, specialising in Software Engineering.

 

Pavlo is involved with startups and is a chair of the Bridging Science and Business working group, and a vice-chair of the BeNeLux chapter of Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA). Outside of his desk he likes running long distances and triathlons, travelling and meeting interesting people.

Prashant Kumar

Legal and Internal Affairs  Unit Director

Prashant is the current director of EMA's Legal and Internal Affairs Unit.

 

Prashant Kumar is an engineer-turned-lawyer, who graduated from the European Master of Law and Economics (EMLE) programme in 2017 and has been a volunteer across various EMA projects since early 2017. He played a significant role in shaping the new statute and internal regulations of EMA. He is currently pursuing a second Erasmus Mundus Masters degree in Europe, the prestigious Masters in Sports Ethics and Integrity (MAiSi).

Prashant has an extensive experience of more than 7 years, handling contentious issues, litigating before courts across India and drafting a variety of contracts and agreements. He also believes a key reason for his appointment to the Management Board was his Bollywood dance sessions during two EMA General Assemblies!

Pepri Saputra

Finance Management Unit Director

Pepri is the current director of EMA's Finance Management Unit.

Pepri is the current director of the Financial Management unit of EMA. Originally from Indonesia, he is currently finishing his EMJMD in European Studies (EUROCULTURE) in the University of Groningen, Netherlands and the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland; with a focus on asylum and migration policies within discourse analysis frameworks. He is currently doing a research semester as a Research Assistant for the EU’s Horizon 2020 funded programme called EU Differentiation, Dominance and Democracy (EU3D) in Krakow, Poland.  

 

Pepri has also obtained his BSc in Government and Political Studies from the Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia and spent an academic year as an exchange student in the University of Tampere, Finland. Since 2016, he has actively participated in EMA local activities in Indonesia before volunteering as an Executive Support for the EMA Steering Committee 2018-2019.

Tiago Welter

Talent Management Unit Director

Tiago is the current director of EMA's Talent Management Unit.

 

Tiago is from Florianopolis, Brazil, and lives in Nuremberg, Germany. In 2017, he completed an Erasmus Mundus Masters Degree in Local Development (Master Code) with a thesis focusing on the nexus among International Student Mobility, Skilled Immigration and Local Development. His mobility track included Hungary, Germany and Italy.

 

Tiago has been active in EMA since early 2016. His roles included: Programme Representative for Master CoDe, Country Representative for Germany, member of the Professional Development Team, and support assistant to EMA's Webinars. He also worked as a member of AIESEC in Brazil, Serbia, Germany and Colombia. Previously, he graduated from High School in Canada, completed a BA and MA in Brazil focusing on International Mobility, and spent one year at the University of Lisbon.

 

As EMA's current Director of Talent Management, his goal is to help improve the EMA volunteering system, by attracting increasing numbers of talented and motivated volunteers. 

 

Tiago's hobbies include riding his bicycle and e-scooter around Nuremberg, playing acoustic guitar and collecting Bavarian beers.

Manasseh Anand

Project Support Unit Director

Manasseh is the current director of EMA's Project Support Unit.

 

Manasseh graduated from his Erasmus Mundus Master of Science in Computational Mechanics in 2013. After spending some time living and working in Europe he is now back in Chennai, India. 

There he is working on his start-up focusing on combining the best of IoT technology, data and product and design to implement a successful waste management ecosystem in India. 

 

He has served as a course representative, PRnet Team member and Mentoring Program Lead before joining as the Head of Project Support.
